Northrop Jazz Bands
Northrop High School offers two jazz ensembles. Jazz 1 is the top jazz ensemble and meets during the school day. Students must audition to be accepted into Jazz 1. Jazz 2 and Jazz 3 are open to all students in grades 9 through 12.

Northrop Jazz 2 performs at the local jazz festivals in the Fort Wayne area.

Northrop Jazz 1 performs at the local and regional jazz festivals in the Midwest.
The Barry A. Ashton Jazz Festival
The Barry A. Ashton Jazz Festival is held every March at Northrop High School. Named in honor of long time band director Barry Ashton, Northrop host bands from the surrounding area. Judges come from around Indiana to hear some of the best bands in the area. Northrop also brings in a guest artist to perform with the Northrop Jazz 1 and offer clinics to performing bands.
